VolunteerMatters Enterprise SAML Add-On Configuration

With a VolunteerMatters Enterprise subscription with the SAML Add-on, an administrator with the "Configuration" administrative role can add and configure a SAML Identity Partner for use with your VolunteerMatters system for login.

Configuration Steps:

  • Log into your VolunteerMatters system with the proper security access roles and then click on Configuration > SAML Login.

  • On the SAML Authentication Configuration page, click the "new" button.

  • This will open the "SAML Authentication Registration" Configuration page. The following fields are available for SAML Identity Partners within VolunteerMatters.  Required fields are identified via an asterisk.

    • Registration ID* - Registration ID uniquely identifies the relationship between VolunteerMatters and a SAML Identity Provider. The value is unique within VolunteerMatters and should be URL-safe.

    • Name* - Name of the login provider as displayed to a user. Will be used in the default button text on the login screen.

    • Enabled* - Enable or disable login via this SAML Identity Provider

    • Signing Credential Key - VM Private Key for signing credential. Leave blank if Authentication Requests are not signed or to use default credentials.

    • Signing Credential Certificate - VM Public Certificate for signing credential. Leave blank if Authentication Requests are not signed or to use default credentials. This can be used by Identity Provider to validate signed requests.

    • Identity Provider ID* - Identity Provider Entity ID. This is provided by the SAML provider.

    • Identity Provider SSO Endpoint* - Identity Provider SSO endpoint URL. This is provided by the SAML provider.

    • Identity Provider Verification Certificate* - Identity Provider Public Certificate for verifying SAML. This is provided by the SAML provider.

    • SAML Email Attribute* - The name of the SAML attribute, provided by the Identity Server, containing the user's email address.

    • SAML First Name Attribute* - The name of the SAML attribute, provided by the Identity Server, containing the user's first (given) name.

    • SAML Last Name Attribute* - The name of the SAML attribute, provided by the Identity Server, containing the user's last name (surname).

  • After you have made your configuration settings, click the "Save" button and you will be returned to the "SAML Authentication" Configuration page.
